OUR CHURCH

Three years ago, while giving his pastoral report at the Philadelphia Baltimore Annual Conference, Dr. Chandler suggested to Bishop Richard Thompson that he should look into organizing a society in Dover because the membership of Liberating Power was spread out across the state of Delaware.  His response was, you do it!

Since the conclusion of the Philadelphia Baltimore Annual Conference in May 2014, the new society have had weekly bible studies in the home of the Rev. Dr. Geraldine Jones. She is gracious and hospitable in allowing people from the Dover/New Castle Class of Liberating Power African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church as well as people from the community to come and share.  On Thursday, September 15, 2016, the bible study attendees agreed to meet for worship on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday of each month starting in October at 8:00AM in the home of Dr. Jones. On Sunday, October 2, 2016, the new society had its inaugural worship experience in Dover, DE. Presiding Elder Dr. William E. Kelly was present to provide leadership, words of encouragement and support of this effort. The newly organized society will continue to meet for weekly bible study and on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of each month at 8:00AM.

On January 15, 2017, the new society unanimously adopted the name given by the Rev. Dr. William Kelly, “Transformation African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.” On Saturday, May 27, 2017, the Philadelphia Baltimore Annual Conference under the leadership of the Rt. Rev. W. Darin Moore voted the Transformation church into full connection.
